I’ve had charcuterie boards saved to my Pinterest forever, you know the ones with perfect little cheeses and grapes placed just so? I’d always look at them and think, that’s cute, but who has TIME for all that?!
Well, this year I finally did it. And honestly?! It was SO much easier than I thought! I pulled together a few of our favorite things, some brie, salami, crackers, and grapes, nothing fancy, just what we already had on hand.

We opened a bottle of wine, set it out on the table, and snacked while catching up after a long day. It turned into one of those slow, quiet nights that just feels like FALL in the best way!
The board came out way cuter than I expected and it made me realize you don’t need a ton of ingredients or a theme that matches your throw pillows to make something special. So if you’re in CHARGE of the fall appetizers this year, or just want a no-stress way to bring people together… this board is it. It’s simple, it’s delicious, and it brings all the cozy autumn vibes with zero pressure!
Key Elements of a Fall Charcuterie Board
You don’t need a million ingredients to make a charcuterie board that looks great and actually gets eaten. A few cozy fall flavors, some texture, and a little color, that’s it. Here’s how we like to build ours:
1. Start with the cheese
Cheese is always the first thing I reach for, so I make sure to include a few options. For this board, I kept it simple: soft brie, a white cheddar, and something herby. That’s it. No pressure to get fancy, just choose what you LIKE!
If you want to dress it up a bit, you could try one of those cranberry goat cheeses or something seasonal from the deli section. But honestly, even just a creamy brie in the middle of the board already looks and feels a little fancy.

2. Bring the salty
This is where your cured meats come in. I usually go with a classic salami (always a hit) and something with a little kick, like peppered slices. Prosciutto is GREAT too if you’re feelin’ fancy, but not required.
You don’t have to overthink this, just fold or fan them out near the cheeses, or pile them up in a couple spots and call it good. It adds that salty, savory bite that balances out the sweet stuff later!
3. Add a pop of color and crunch
This is the part that makes the board feel seasonal. I went with red grapes (can’t go wrong), plus a handful of walnuts for texture… If you’ve got figs, apple slices, dried apricots, or pears, those would be PERFECT too!
You’re looking for things that are easy to snack on and bring a little sweetness or crunch. No need to peel or prep much, keep it low-effort, high-reward!
4. Don’t skip the spreads
This board had a jar of pâté (yes please), and it paired so well with the crackers and brie. If pâté’s not your thing, no worries, you could do fig jam, honey, or even a little pot of pumpkin butter.
Just one or two small bowls on the board is enough to make everything feel extra. Bonus: spreads help break up the layout and make things look really put together, even if they’re not!

5. What to stack it all on
Last but not least, the CRACKERS. I used two kinds: one thin and salty, one puffier and a little rustic. They don’t have to match. You could even throw in some mini toasts or slices of baguette if you’ve got them!
Want to make it feel more fall-ish? Look for maple crackers or those leaf-shaped ones (Trader Joe’s has ‘em when they’re in season). But honestly, ANYTHING crunchy will do!
How to Build Your Fall Charcuterie Board
Once you’ve got all your ingredients laid out, it’s time to put the whole thing together. And trust me, this part is way more FUN than it is stressful. There’s no perfect way to do it, you’re just layering up colors, textures, and flavors until it looks (and tastes) good! Here’s how I like to do it:
Start with your biggest pieces
I always begin with the brie, it’s round, it’s pretty, and it makes a GREAT centerpiece. Then I’ll tuck in any other bigger items like a jar of pâté or a small bowl of jam. If you’re using a pumpkin or something decorative, place that now too! Think of these as your anchors.
Give everything its own little space
I don’t cram stuff in all at once… I space out the cheese first (not all lumped together), then fill in the meats nearby. I kind of build it like a puzzle, but one you can eat 😊

Fold or fan the meats
You don’t have to get fancy here, but folding the salami into half-moons or rolling a few slices adds a nice touch. It also makes it easier for people to grab without pulling apart a whole pile.
Scatter in the color
This is when I add the grapes and nuts, the stuff that brings everything to life. I like to break the grapes into smaller clusters so they fit into the board more naturally… Walnuts and pecans? Just sprinkle ‘em in. It fills the gaps and makes the whole thing look full without feeling messy!
Fill in the edges with crackers
I usually place the crackers around the outside of the board, it’s easy for guests to reach, and it keeps things from sliding around. Don’t overthink the arrangement, just fan them out in a few spots and you’re good.
Let it be a little imperfect
Seriously. The BEST boards are the ones that feel relaxed and a little undone. It’s okay if one side has more grapes or a cracker stack is leaning, this isn’t about symmetry! It’s about good food and good vibes.
A tip if you’re planning ahead…
Before I opened any packages, I laid out the empty board and kind of blocked where things would go, no measuring, just eyeballing. If you’re a visual person like me, it helps to get a sense of space before you start building… PLUS, it keeps you from crowding one side and running out of room halfway through!

Ideas to Make Your Board Extra Cozy (and Extra Fall)
- Add mini pumpkins or gourds for decoration, even just one on the BOARD makes it feel extra autumn-y!
- Swap in fall fruits like sliced apples, pears, or dried figs instead of grapes.
- Use seasonal cheeses like cranberry goat cheese, sage cheddar, or a pumpkin spice blend if you want to go full-on FALL.
- Add sweetness with maple butter, fig jam, or honey, they pair so well with brie and crackers!
- Go hearty with extras like candied pecans, roasted almonds, or even spiced pumpkin seeds.
- Make it dessert-y by adding maple leaf cookies, caramel dip, or a chunk of dark chocolate.
- Include a warm element like baked brie or toasty bread slices if you’re serving it as part of dinner.
- Add fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme for a pop of green and a hint of aroma.
- Use a round or lazy Susan board to make it easier for guests to spin and snack (fun AND functional!).

I really hope you LOVE this fall charcuterie board as much as we do, it’s become one of those things that shows up on our table again and again once the weather cools down! It’s easy, it’s cozy, and it brings people together without a lot of effort (which is kind of the dream)!
