Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the long sides.
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.
Add the eggs and vanilla. Whisk again until well combined.
Add the flour and salt. Use a spatula to fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients just until no streaks of flour remain. Do not overmix.
Stir in the chocolate chips and about ⅔ of the M&M’s.
Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the remaining M&M’s over the top.
Bake for 25–28 minutes, or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Place the pan on a rack and let the bars cool completely.
Use the parchment overhang to lift the cooled slab out of the pan. Transfer to a cutting board and cut into 18 bars.
